Thread: new to macs..

    new to macs..

    im a bit lame and completley new to apples, I got a macbook yesterday and love it but it is a bit of an unkown entity.. I thought maybe you guys could help a newby out a bit..

    my green light is on for my camera when I dont seem to have any programs open, how do i turn the camera off? and also is there and equivelent to paint? I want to do soem animations and downloaded something called gimpshop, but that needed x11 which is apperntly on my disk, but when i tried to install it it said nothing to install..

    .. it is amazing though, very happy i convertyed / am converting..

    I have never tried this but there are several positive comments concerning software called Seashore.

    The green light is on when you activate it by opening either Photobooth or Quicktime. Goto Applications > Utilities > Activity Monitor and see whether any of the above mentioned Apps. are currently running. You can quit then from there.

    GIMP is a good alternative for Paint (Even better). For that you need X11User.pkg(Hidden on your installation disk). Read the instructions here

    thank you, thats what i was looking for, i couldn't find where to access the applications that might be using it.

    I was worried i'd downloaded something dodgy and was being spied on!!!
