what cases my External IP adress to change? My recently changed and i dont know how or why.

OS X 10.6.4
2GB RAM
2.4Ghz Core 2 Duo

The external IP is provided by your ISP(Internet Service Provider). Usually for secutity reasons they allocate dynamic IP addresses(change the IP address in a regular basis). As a user, you cannot influence on that.

I technically have a dynamic IP (some domestic broadband providers do give out static IPs) with my service provider but it goes for months at a time without changing. What do you want a static IP? If it's to do something like run a web server there are tools you can use to get around it.
