Do you live in the UK?
If so please Sing a Petition to Rt Hon. Tony Blair (Prime Minister) Online on his Website....

No 10 Downing Street has enabled people to Create/View and Sign Petitions that will be presented to the Prime Minister.

Please Sign the Petition referring to Copyright Law, as we are all well aware Copyright Law is currently out of step with Common usage and hopefully this will be a way of successfully changing this and in the worst case scenario nothing changes but imagine if we could actually use our legally purchased files properly

    Please Sign, Thank You

Also Pass On to As Many people As Possible as the Petition closes on the 26th December 2006

Ummmmmm surely this is the thing that the BPI have already said they would never prosecute anyone for anyways?

As it has the backing of the BPI who are the copyright holder for much of this material, surely noone is disputing that this will come to pass soon anyway - as I understand it, it's more to do with them changing the wording of the license than a legal change that our dear Tony would have any say over.

"Whether one actually changes the law or not is actually a moot point because it is possible to give consumers that permission simply through authorisation from existing rights holders,"

The point would be it would be enshrined in Law...

What the BPI is talking about there is for them allowing us to do that, I want the Law to allow us to do that. It's not a Moot Point it's just the BPI trying to make themselves seem bigger than they are.

Also the petition technically doesn't refer to music only this should be for all forms of digital media.

Copyright Holders shouldn't be given the choice whether to prevent us from making backups or switching formats. Simple As. It should be our right.

    Anyone who's wondering the Signature's have gone up to 1263 @ 19/110/06 11:44am

It's doing really well, it's the 4th Highest Petition on the Site, especially considering the 3 above it are Party Political Agenda's.
