i bought a macbook about 3 weeks ago and ive been having some trouble. on a couple of occasions, the fan in my macbook starts to speed up and go so fast that it is acutally pretty loud and while this happens, my battery seems to drain very fast. does anyone know whats going on??

p.s. this obviously only happens when i am using the computer on battery power and not electrical

Sounds like something you're doing is using up a lot of processor time. When it does that, check in Activity Monitor (Applications -> Utilities -> Acivity Monitor) for processors using a lot (greater than 50%) CPU in the %CPU column.
