    Might be a dumb question
What is a "trackback"? I've searched the term in the forum didn't really see anything so was just wondering.

"A trackback is one of three types of linkback methods for website authors to request notification when somebody links to one of their documents. This enables authors to keep track of who is linking to their articles. Some weblog software, such as SilverStripe, WordPress, Drupal, and Movable Type, supports automatic pingbacks where all the links in a published article can be pinged when the article is published. The term is used colloquially for any kind of linkback."

    Thanks
To be more precise I've looked it up but I don't speak that language if you catch my drift. I don't know what most of that means. I am slow as in I don't understand why I posted something earlier as my own new thread, and when I went to send it had like 4 trackbacks that were there. Why would that be?

A Trackback is simply an acknowledgment. This acknowledgment is sent via a network signal (ping) from Site A (originator) to Site B (receptor). The receptor often publishes a link back to the originator indicating its worthiness.

Trackback requires both, Site A and Site B to be Trackback enabled in order to establish this communication. Trackback does not require for Site A to phisically link to Site B.

In your case above, another site has probably linked to the thread in question.
