yesterday i took ownership of a brand new MacBook Pro 15" i7 processor, this is the first laptop i have ever owned from new and it feels great

Congrats. You picked a nice machine as a first laptop to ever own. Mine was hardly the first I've ever owned - but definitely the first one that I couldn't stop running my hands over marveling at its construction and aesthetics.
