network startup

Can anybody tell me what happens if I choose the network startup option, in my startup-disk preferences?
And I have a Mac OS9 bootable cd (original), but it won't boot in an iMac G4 (imac G5 is under repair, this is a loaner).
It just simply doesn't recognize the cd as a bootable medium.
Thanks a lot for any advice or help....

Network startup is for NetBoot. http://www.apple.com/server/macosx/f...rkinstall.html

To boot from the CD, you must insert it and restart your iMac while holding down the 'c' key. The startup disk preferences won't allow you to select the CD.
