I want to buy my husband a 37" or 40" TV for Christmas (we currently have a 23"). He has no idea (that I know of) so I kind of need to be secretive about it. I can't spend more than $1000, want 1080p, and at least 120hz. Sound doesn't matter to me because we have surround sound.

On Black Friday I'll be out in the boondocks, so not near any stores. I would like to purchase the TV before black friday in case stock goes down. But I'd like to have the guarantee that I can get the difference in price when the sale starts (like Best Buy offers).

Does anyone have any recommendations for places to buy a TV?

Thank you!!

This might be an unpopular place to a lot of folks, but I have had good luck with deals on electronics as Sears. At the time you buy, they will go online to price compare and match anything out there. On top of that, if the price drops somewhere within 30 days, they give you the difference back. That's really not a bad way to go.
Good luck

Walmart.

Not really sure if your going to get that price guarantee on Black Friday. It's usually only if your there and on that limited quantity that they have. Not quite sure though.

You can get some great prices online as well. I bought my TV on Newegg and it was a killer deal at the time.

Amazon has some sweet deals, with free delivery too.

Liquid and computers don't mix. It might seem simple, but we see an incredible amount of people post here about spills. Keep drinks and other liquids away from your expensive electronics!

If you have a costco near you, some big discounts and a free coverage on it too.

I would caution you against Costco because of my personal experience with one of their TVs. If you look at the model number, sometimes Costco TVs carry a 'C' in the model number, which seems to indicate the model is exclusive to Costco. In my case, I bought a Sharp Aquos 37" LCD TV. The normal model is able to have its firmware upgraded, but mine is not. That would be fine if the firmware wasn't flawed. Apparently Sharp doesn't provide any support for the Costco versions of its TVs.

I've got no problem with Best Buy. You get national brands there. You might be able to make the purchase online, then pick it up at a store. That went smoothly for me at a Circuit City (now out of business).
