nope that just brings it to the front i need something that accualy quits it and restarts it.

you dont need the terminal, activity monitor can do this by finding the process, and quitting it. it will relaunch on its own. but since im a UNIX nut:

ps -clx

find process called "Finder", and its corresponding Process ID (PID). then

kill [insertPID]
note: dont input brackets
