All I can say is that you should be very very proud of yourself. It's really hard to ask for help, on top of admitting to be an addict.

I've seen and experienced first hand what drugs can do to a person and to a family. It's not going to be easy but with support from friends and family I'm sure you will make it through.

I had never seen your original post Brent, so had no idea! Fight through it brother, and know that even though the people here are ever so slightly virtual, we're still here if you need us to talk to!

I've got a cousin whom I'm very close with, (changed his diapers and all) and he's dealing with cancer at the age of 25. His case is such that the pain he experiences makes him howl for hours on end until the multitude of pills he takes kick in a bit. And even then, it's never enough. He has also gotten to the point of self medicating (easy to see why one would... I sure would too) I cry for the kid, and sometimes wish it was me instead of him, ya know?

I also have severe back and knee pain most of the time, maybe attributed to an accident from years back, and am never comfortable. It's a constant pressure on my lower back, and the result is sometimes that I can't move my neck at all, or I'll have my entire upper back freeze up. I'm also kind of a baby about going to a doctor, but eventually I'll need to do so. You'd think that after having worked in the medical field for years, I'd be more breave, eh?

Just go and kick the carp out of rehab man... don't take carp from your other self, and remember that there's a different life that you used to love before the pain. Work your way back to it (no pun intended there). No doubt these have been and will continue to be the most difficult times in your life, but sometimes you have to just face the fact that life isn't always easy for a good percentage of poeple, and that your'e not alone... even if it feels like you are.

Now go kick your butt brother!

Doug

Thank you all. Your words hit a spot in me and mean a lot. Good to know you arent judging me bc of my addiction
UPDATE ::::

Emergency sent me on my way with another script for me to last 1 week and telling me to halve them so they could last 2 weeks lol to funny !!!!
I got so scared what was going to happen so i jumped onto DVA front door and pleaded with them to help me and see where my claim was that has been going on 12 months now
Saw a counsellor and with her help i am being admitted to a Private Hospital that deals with Addiction and mental health . Im going in this morning sometime for 2 weeks minimum.

I am getting my TPI which will pension me out for the rest of my life. Its means tested so i will get the full amount and ill be able to live comfortably. Because of my position they got a kick in the bu.tt and there expediting my claim.

I am going through with drawl ATM and in so much pain to help it out. It is taking all my energy to not go out and score HURRY UP 9am

I hate this feeling and i wouldnt wish it on anyone

Brent

Pain means you're doing it right, as cliché as that might sound. Once it has passed, you'll be so refreshed and happy to have the worst past you. Don't discount how much talking to someone will help, and never give in to yourself. You literally have to tell yourself to go the letter after E its self and put up a fight to the end!

Its a tricky situation im in.

I NEED THE PILLS for the pain im in, but because of the increase in pain over the last 12 months i have been taking more and more.
I have tried to get into 3 private and the 1 public hospital to treat my depression and PTSD and to get someone to assess my pain and manage it better than has been done.
I have got to the point of getting another script (It has to be a Authority Script because of the potency of the drug and the Addictive side of the drug) and taking my pills. Be it 1 too many again
My issue is now that i do have my drugs but the health system keeps turning me away saying things have to be done via a GP NOT Emergency, because again the addictive nature of the drug and potency. To get into see a Pain Specialist there is a 8 week waiting list.
In that time i will be struggling with the pain, and also taking more than i have been prescribed. It puts me back at the crossroads again.
There isnt a place that can treat PTSD, Major Depression, manage pain and also help me with the addiction of the pain killers.
I have even tried self admitting to my Psychiatrists Clinic 200 kms away and i was on my way until they rang me back and said im better off going somewhere else, because they deal more with Alcoholics than a druggie and thats all they see me as, a junkie looking for his next fix GRRRRRRR
I have my pills so why cant they see me as someone in trouble.
Still not wanting to get out of bed and see the future as bleek but no-one wants to help me.

@Razor Mate there also seems to be a hold up with my claim and they are saying i havnt got a claim in for PTSD and Major Depression. There is only a claim for the treatment of theses illnesses. The stupid thing is DVA sent me to the Psychiatrists for a report to see if i do have PTSD and Depression which i have.
Come Monday ill find out for sure and if not i have to Claim for them. If i do it wont take long though to get a result. The other claims should be sorted by Friday because i stood on there door step until i got a answer, because its been going on for over 12 months now.
Im exhausted, tired and nothing else to give.
To top it off it looks as if i have to go back to work on these pills until something is sorted out.
At the end of my tether

Brent
