Yeah I know it must be a lame day if you start thinking about writing a poem... but here's a little stab at it. (P.S can be seen as a little dark.)

With every breath taken
our life force is decaying.
Every inhale and exhale weakens,
this continuing effect starts,
as a countdown from entry
to this cruel little world.
During our struggles and these
gasps for that precious air
from which only hastens our
fading bleak life.
As our final hours tick away,
those last few breaths
bring that blissful pain that
reminds us of that final entry
of no return in foresight.

Wow what a great way to start the morning. >_<"

I'm so not into poetry but wow that was bleak, although true.

Here's a poem I wrote for my sister in 5th grade. It was all part of a photography unit. We shot the photos on film, hand developed the negative, chose 1 photo we wanted to print to 8x11. I chose this photo, of my sister Ashley riding her scooter down our street:

Here's the poem:

Ashley
I love my sister, Ashley
My best friend
sometimes a fiend, but always a friend
I love her in school
I lover her today, I love her tomorrow.
Her scooter makes her happy, so I'm happy.
She got her scooter out of the garage,
and with the snap of her helmet, a few kicks
And the twist of a handle
She's outta here
And I miss an opportunity to photograph her
But I still have my bike
With the snap of my helmet, a kick at the kickstand, and a few turns
With the camera safely buckled to my arm, the turn of my pedals
And a "bye" to my mom, I'm outta here too
I park my bike where I think suits my subject
I get the camera out and wait...
2 minutes later I hear a low rumble
I get the camera ready
Oh, car
I wait more
Then I hear it
Thump Thump Thump
The sound of her tired, flat wheel comes around the corner
The faint "hummmm" of her scooter comes
I aim, notice the perfect lighting, and pan her
As quickly as she came she goes
Ten minutes later, she comes home smiling.
So I smile

Sure, I'll post one. I call it "To Appear, Love"...

To appear
The secrets of your dreams
To disappear
Love is not all lost.

No one knows the truth
No one can understand
Reasons
The Mystery we endure.

Make your own path
Go your own way
Follow your own choices

If we can't comprehend
At least we can make the most
Out of life's givings.

There are no reasons, no purposes to discover.
Only the ones we create, and only they can lead us.

Let no one stand in your way
Life cannot be controlled
But it allows us
to succeed, to live.
Let no one tell you you can't.

Confidence is fleeting in me.
No one can tell me how to do it.

But I will.

The fears I have let control me for so long
The potential pain I have avoided
Means I have not lived.
And if it means I must feel that pain, to know what I must.
Then I will endure, and feel better knowing
It's better to have loved and lost, then to not have loved at all.

Or better to have tried love, and not be accepted
Then to not try, and live life in fear.

"Your innocence is treasure, your innocence is death
But your innocence is all I have"

That was good BlueMac and I like the photo, and to December it seemed like your poem was more about not allowing our "gifts to get spoiled and rotted."

Interesting. I'm kind of getting "I'm an individual, I'm unique. Don't tell me what to do with my life." Then towards the end it's about living life the way you want to and not let fear control you.

LoL VE, I'm glad that you could use my name in your Haiku.
