Man, it's amazing how that hydraulic ram makes it look like the log is made of play-dough.

That is so cool especially if you had a lot of wood to cut up. My place has a fake fireplace and mantel but I can't burn wood in it. I miss the days of a good fire on a cold night.

It's overrated, trust me. Most of the heat goes up the flue, and then there's chimney cleanings and creosote to worry about. I'd much rather have a gas insert (on my to do list for one of these days).

Yeah, dunno why, but I've watched that thing at least a half dozen times.

I've rarely lit an open fire for warmth, and gas fires just don't have the same ambiance. Now growing up in WI, we had a pot belly stove.. that thing was HOT and pretty efficient at transferring heat into the house instead of out the flue.
