ni-eve; like dumb, stupid, unknowing...etc...

google was no help, dictionary's no help, friends are just as dumb as me.

I would use a different word, but its really bugging me that I don't know.

Looks like the reason you couldn't find it is because you have the wrong idea of what it means. It doesn't mean stupid or dumb, it means inexperienced and having a lack of judgment/wisdom.
