Colour coding files.

I'm trying to organize my folders using the right click 'color labels' option.

Some folders this option is not available. Why is this?

Mac Specs: 21in iMac core2 Duo- 13in macbook - 10.9 on both

You don't have permission to modify those folders. What folders are you trying to color?
Do a "Get Info" on one and down at the bottom does it say Read and Write or Read Only?
