Hello there,

Help needed to upgrade my RAM. Right now i have 512MB card in each slot.
And i bought a new 2GB ram i.e single card. i dont know whether i should leave one slot blank or can i insert 2GB in one slot and 512MB in other slot?

Tried check this out in Youtube.com but no talks about this!! So please help to mix it.

Thank you

Zaki

Well ideally you need a matched pair of sticks. What you can do depends on what model of MacBook you have.

You can test it pretty easily buy installing the 2GB on the one slot and then booting up and then doing it again with the 2GB and 512 on the other slot.

If it doesn't boot up properly then you know which one works or not.

Apple says that you should have matched ram, but from all the personal experiences I have heard, having mismatched doesn't affect performance.

Not in a MacBook you won't. In fact, it wouldn't boot.
