Have you considered a chemical stripper instead?

Liquid and computers don't mix. It might seem simple, but we see an incredible amount of people post here about spills. Keep drinks and other liquids away from your expensive electronics!

I have, but it's just too darn expensive, plus the fact that I've already got it half sanded.

They no longer make my sander, and the belts are apparently as rare as a unicorn, so I'm attempting to fix it using nylon cord, elmer's glue, and staples.

Well, good luck. I love doing projects like that. I'd really like to see the results when you're finished. Are you just doing a solid color or do you have some kind of design in mind?

I'm going to be staining it once I get it sanded. Not sure what color yet.

EDIT!

So, I decided on Pecan Satin Minwax stain. There's even going to be a little surprise thrown in just for my Mac-Forums buddies.

I think it's an improvement over dayglo orange.

Wow, nice! It turned out great! I've actually used that same stain on an outdoor bench. It was pretty easy to use (one step) and has really weathered quite well. I doubt you'll ever need to redo it again.

Through a random sequence of events I have ended up with my current MacBook and 2 of my previous laptops in my house - one of them needed a Windows re-install as it had been used for Linux and now the owner (my nephew) would like it to go back to Windows XP and the other had a hard drive failure so is with me for the new HDD and a fresh Windows install, anti-virus, office, anit-spyware, etc, etc, etc. Thought I'd post a couple of pics to show the differences in looks, size and specs when compared to my MacBook.

From left to right:

HP OmniBook XE2 [PIII Celeron 500 MHz, 256MB RAM*, 20GB HDD (battery no longer holds ANY charge] * 192 available

HP Pavilion ZE5600 [P4 Celeron 2.6GHz, 512MB RAM*, 60GB HDD (new)] 448MB RAM available

MacBook [2.0GHz C2D, 2GB RAM, 80GB HDD]

It appears I will be in possession of another Mac soon.

Not sure what kind, but it's for sure a Mac.

Someone at my mom's work decided to get a new one and didn't need the old one.

No other information, but, it's a Mac.

So, I've got an interview for a graphic design job Wednesday morning.

I'm going to be designing a product box. I know not what it is, nor how much I'll be offered, but it's experience.

Hopefully I get it, and the pay is decent.
