Does anyone remember NEXT after Jobs left Apple? My buddy used to rave over that computer. Has anyone ever used one? What was the OS? Unix based like OS X?

Input?

NeXT was actually bought out by Apple, which was one of the first things that Steve Jobs did upon his return. NEXTSTEP is actually the foundation for Mac OS X.

Liquid and computers don't mix. It might seem simple, but we see an incredible amount of people post here about spills. Keep drinks and other liquids away from your expensive electronics!

Cool stuff! So have you ever used one before? If so, thoughts of it? Keeping in mind, compared to computers at that time.

I have a close programer friend who has used a NeXT system and loved it at the time. The OS was quite nice and like was said, was the foundation of OSX when Jobs returned to Apple. My friend and I almost picked one up once for the fun of it but it was still a lot of $$$ so we backed down.

1985 is when Jobs was fired from Apple by John Sculley. Maybe that is where you were getting 1985 from.

Ebay?

I mean I have an SGI in the lab, but my stash of old OS's doesn't include Nextstep. Although by Coach's standards I must be positively ancient since I've actually used it :
