How do I dual boot Linux on a Macbook

First I need to set up a parition on my external Harddrive. Also I have Ubuntu on a disk so would I boot into the disk and install on the parition. Help would be great.

I just installed it and Ubuntu set up the dual boot itself. When I started up the computer I chose between the two different systems. (Disclaimer: this is not an endorsement........I take no responsibility for your hard drive, etc, etc).

No regarding beryl. I just popped in the CD and installed the linux system. It took care of the dual-booting itself. I also installed three other linux systems (one at a time) and have since removed them all.
