There actually was a old version of iTunes that worked on OS 9 and I believe OS 8. Here is a URL. Give it a try and let us know if it works!

http://www.oldapps.com/download_iTunes_mac.php

I wonder if it will work on a 68K machine though. Never thought of that. It's for a PPC machine.

Hello,

For anyone still looking to play mp3s at full quality on a Quadra 68k. I have been using an app called MPEGDEC for years that works brilliantly and in stereo. It supports m3u playlists and other things too!
It's really incredible to play mp3s on a computer built in 1993 (just about when the mp3 format was invented by Fraunhofer)
If anyone needs this app let me know I will email/post it to you.

Musically yours.

The SoundBringer
