Is there a simple word program maybe in shareware that will open .doc files and do simple word processing. My friends send me from Windows a .doc file. I know Text Edit comes with OSX but I want something a little more but don't want to spend a lot on MS Word.

Like someone said, Open Office. Also, if you have fink check out abiWord. Think is there, but not too sure. abiWord is just an open source Word app. From what i remember it looks similar to MS Word. Have used it in Linux. But if you want a free Office System. Go with Open Office.

I don't believe you can run it unless you have OS X Jaguar or above

Correct me if I'm wrong.
