beige g3 os9 can't read CD's burned by OS X

I have a beige g3 that won't read cd's burned by my G5 powermac. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong?

beige G3 is running os 9.2.1, G5 power mac is running 10.4.9

Try this option for OS7.
