Before using bootcamp AND parallels required 2 copies of Windows on the same machine. Now I've heard rumors that you can use both with one copy. Is this true? Is anyone using this setup now? If so, I'll be getting a copy of Parallels soon (as soon as my school starts selling Vista for $5).

Yes, it is possible. You first install Windows via Boot Camp, and then using the latest beta of Parallels, you can use that Windows partition as a virtual machine in OS X.
