Is there a Free program to run linux while running the Mac OS?

I have used Q to run windows while running the Mac OS, is there a program to do the same with Linux?

This is correct. Q can not only run Linux (or any other x86 operating system you'd care to think of) but it can also emulate other architectures, including ARM, SPARC, PPC and MIPS.

You could also dual boot with Yellow Dog, Ubuntu and at least 2 other flavors. I believe one of the others is Fedora.

When using Q in the initial setup it asks you what type of machine it is going to emulate, would the linux run faster if I told it to emulate a PPC considering I am running the program on my PPC powerbook?
