Hey guys,

Im working on a mini personal server for my own use... kinda just a really good comp for my use lol.. anyways.. i was running 1.7 intel celeron ..on my dell and was running great.. then i got a chip out of a broken HP my dad gave me and poped it in and now im 2.3 intell celeron... but im running slower for some reason.. :/ .. why is that? (sorry if too broad.. dont no much of the specs and im a lil to lazy to look right now) .. i also put the HD from the HP into the Dell and it works just fine but also slowed it down even more and i noticed my 4 fans didnt have as much power as they did without the extra HD. So i was thinking about putting the 2 HD (adding 2 more in the next couple hours) .. so putting the 4 HD in this spare case i have lieing around and i was going to have the HDs, Fans and another "Small" power supply in that extra case. But what i was wondering was is it ok to run another Power Supply? .. 1 power supply in the main tower powering everything except HD's and then in the next tower will be another power supply powering the HD's. (fans will have to be powerd off main tower.. so that meens wires everywhere :/) .. but will this work and be ok?... i think it will. i will just have to turn on both towers at the same time on start up ..

let me no

Dont think its going to work you will need a bugger power supply in the tower. Also with regards to the cpu have you actually checked that speed your getting as it sounds like your multiplier is too low hence being slow. You will have to look in the BIOS and see what you can do.

As for the fans, yea they wont have as much power as you added another HD so again your gonna need a bigger power supply

Apple, think different

hmm.. ok. not sure of the speed on the two chips but i will look here soon. what i really wanted to do was upgrade this dell. I replaced all fans with higher performance ones, replaced all IDE cables with better ones, replaced the CPU Heatsink... sadly it was a failure at first. I bought an antec CPU heatsink with side mounted fan and at first i had troubles putting it on.. then after i got it the fan was loose i guess and it came undone and well 4 of the fan blades broke off.. still have the heatsink in it though and i took a fan outa another spare comp i had laying around and jimmy riged it to the heatsink... only thing i dont have right now is high memory. It has 256mb which is OK for now. I also have 1 40gig HD and 1 60gig HD in it. I have about 2 60gig laying around and 2 40gig HDs laying around and thats why i was wanting to make that seperate tower so i can have all of them hooked up. But all to one power supply (350w) will dramaticly slow it down... so... i dont no.. havent tried the seperate tower yet but might get on it here soon... just experiment :-P
