I just wanted to know before I purchase it, if I should do it because if it doesn't work, I might aswell go for Win7 (needs it for math program at school)

Windows 8 is now supported with the latest update to Mountain Lion (10.8.3) which also included an update to Boot Camp. You are still required to download a driver package from Apple which is noted in the Boot Camp instructions.

For everyone wondering what version of Windows you need.

And every other initial question about installing Windows on a Mac.

Open BootCamp Assistant found in your Applications / Utilities folder.
On the opening window will be an option to print the instructions.

Print them, read them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not only will it provide you "the best" walkthrough tutorial for installing Windows hassle free on your Mac, it will also provide you with the info related to the versions of Windows your version of BootCamp Assistant supports.

I cannot be held responsible for the things that come out of my mouth.
In the Windows world, most everything folks don't understand is called a virus.
