Hi guys.

Recently installed windows xp pro (sp2) on my mac. Got one problem though. In order to play games my videocard has to be recognised by the windows system. It is not at the moment. When I go to my hardware settings(device manager) i dont see any video controllers of some kind. How can i solve this problem and install the video controller so i can play video games?

thanks,
thomas

I believe the Bootcamp driver kit that comes with Lion no longer supplies drivers for Windows XP. That means for you that you need to locate fitting Chipset and Graphics drivers over the internet.

Boot into OSX:
Launch the system profiler (Apple Menu -> About this Mac -> More Info... -> System Report).

Chipset:
Navigate to "Serial-ATA" and write down the Chipset Name (For example "Intel ICH10 AHCI, Intel 6 Chipset or NVidia MCP79 AHCI.)

Graphics:
Go to "Graphics/Displays" and write down whats mentioned in the "Chipset Model" area. (For example Intel HD Graphics 3000, NVIDIA GeForce 9400 or AMD Radeon HD 5870.)

Now that you have gathered those infos you'll need to locate Windows XP drivers over the internet. The manufacture's website is usually the place where you will be able download Windows drivers. You might also need to install the latest DirectX version from microsoft.com that still has support for Windows XP (I believe Version 9.0c is the latest revision with official XP support).

The time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time.

As you seem to be getting XP to at least work, check out the updates for the graphics card from ATI Radeon or nVidia. Personally has a HD4870 1GB card in my Mac Pro and updated the drivers from the ATI website.

Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer!

Like the others say. Once you've identified your graphics card just go to the nvidia or ATI website to get the drivers. Just make sure you get the mobile/notebook version

It would help if you told us which Mac you have? Year and model? The reason is because some Macs ( late 2010, all 2011, and early 2012) only support Windows 7. There are no drivers for XP or Vista for those model even if you go to the manufacturer's web site.
