I have a MacBook 2009 10.6.8 with an Intel Core Duo...

I recently purchased a high resolution USB powered Iris (eye) Camera that comes with a software program called "MicroCapture" that works with the digital iris camera. Pictures or videos are taken with the LED lighted high res camera by clicking a button on the software (NOT on the camera, which I find unusual).

The problem I'm having is that the camera software works for the first 1-5 minutes that the USB camera is plugged in and then freezes. The company which produces the camera/software is not being very helpful, and isn't familiar with Macs. (Their instruction manual literally says, "if you're having trouble with this product, ask a young person because young people can generally figure it out!" YIKES!

The only suggestions they have offered me thus far are: make sure your webcam is off (It's always off unless I'm using it, as far as I can tell), and make sure your screen saver is off (it's always off on my settings).

I'm wondering if it is some kind of conflict between software and could use some suggestions and solutions, as this is an important tool for my work! I have the Windows 2010 Suite, Safari, Firefox, Adobe Reader, Utorrentz, Express Scribe, HP desktop printer software, and other than that, pretty much the basic software that comes with the newer Mac laptops.

Any ideas, Mac Geniuses?
Much appreciation,
Karen

I'm assuming that the manufacturer has stated the camera is Mac compatible since there is software supplied with it that you're using. Or, are you using the camera and software in Windows on your Mac? (you didn't say)

The name of the camera and company website would be helpful.

Also, here is a download site for MicroCapture for the Mac.

Yes, the manufacturer did say that the camera was Mac compatible- not using it on Windows.

The camera is a Pebble 8 from http://www.iridology.nl

Should I uninstall my old Microcapture before I try this one?

Thanks SO much for helping me with this!

Yes, go ahead and uninstall the older MicroCapture software before installing the Mac version I linked to. Let's see if you have better luck with that.
