Here's my Mac info:

Dual 1.42 GHz PowerPc G4 2MB L3 Cache per processor
2 GB DDR SDRAM
114.5 GB Capacity
DVD Drive

I recently added a VPC7 with XP pro OS on a different (older, slower, less RAM, etc...) mac and it worked fine.

I am trying to add XP pro OS to VPC7 on this mac and cannot boot the XP pro disc. I created an empty PC using the PC assistant.

When I run VPC7 I get the message "OS not found Install an OS on this hard drive"

When I go to capture the CD, the option is grey and unavailable. I tried the workaround of going to virtual disk assistant and making a copy of the disk in a file. I then mounted that copy onto Drive 1 Settings. I'm still getting the same message.

VCP7 is installed on the hard drive
I have been able to create an empty PC using the assistant
XP pro is a retail disk and it is bootable
I have tried several retail disks that are bootable and none of them work.

Can anyone help me figure out the issue.

Thanks!

G'day and welcome to the forums.

Just not practical VP in any form on a PowerPC computer. It is too slow to even contemplate sorry. If you want to run Windows suggest getting an Intel machine and run via Bootcamp.

Either that or a cheap laptop such as a Dell Latitude to run XP.

Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer!

Hi Harry,

I beg to differ. I'm running VPC on an older PowerMac and it's running my accounting software without an issue.

So if someone could please contemplate this, I would appreciate it.

Thanks!

Well good luck. VPC is that old and unsupported it has no fans.

Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer!

And I believe you are the first person in the history of this forum (since I joined anyway) who thinks that ANYTHING runs "fine" under VPC. But hey, if it works for you, not my place to judge. In any event, the program is unsupported and as a result may simply not run properly on a newer Mac than the one you installed it on.

Good luck. You're going to need it!

Cheers
