Running 2 vpn connections at the same time

hi,

i'm at uni abroad and to connect to the internet I have to use a vpn. i want to then connect to a different vpn back in the UK but when i try and do this my mac crashes. does anyone know if it is possible/ how to run a vpn through another vpn?
