I'm trying to update an excel file by inserting a data disc with the new information on it. I've updated other PC's with the information and I've even updated the file on my Mac OS, but when I try to update my Mac with parallels, the system doesn't even acknowledge that a disc has even been inserted, although the computer clearly is spinning the disc.

is Parallels controlling the drive at that point? Sounds like it isn't. Since I'm not a parallels user, I can't help you change that.. but their help should help.mike
