Programming a Mac Classic

I recently came across a stack of old Family Computing magazines from the late 80's early 90's. Each month they had programs that you could type in. The programs were for various computers including Macintosh. I used to use these on my old Commodore 64 back in the day. I have an old Mac Classic laying around the house collecting dust, I was just wondering how I go about entering these programs in that Mac? Do I need special software? Or is there another way to enter the programs? The Mac in question is running System 7.1

Thanks in advance.
