Using Parallels - additional security needed?

I'm looking to get Paralells and primarily use it to use TV streaming programs not supported for Mac.

I'm no super tech, but having always been on Mac, I've never had to deal with all the 'security' issues associated with PC's/Windows.

Since I'd be running Windows 'within' the Mac OS, am I more vulnerable to viruses/malicious stuff or can I just carry on as I am with OSX? Will I need additional settings/firewall/virus software. The thought of dealing with PC bugs fills me with dread

    Many thanks.

Many member ask the question about viruses and malware on the Mac and in addition to using the search function at the top of the forum, you'll find almost all your answers here:
