When i installed refit and tried to boot into windows 7 that i had installed using boot camp it stays on a command prompt screen, the keyboard remains unresponsive, So i uninstalled refit as they said to do on there websight "If you installed through the installer package, these instructions are for you.
While booted into Mac OS X, rename or remove the “efi” folder. For a 100% clean de-installation, also remove the folder “rEFItBlesser” inside “Library/StartupItems”. " And now i have to hold the alt key to select mac osx and on top of that my boot camp partition no longer shows up when i hold the alt key i tried reinstalling refit but no luck i still have to do the same thing just to get into mac osx |

I'm not sure why your BC partition is not showing up, however, here's how to get OS X to boot automatically:
Reboot the machine and hold down the Alt (Option) key as before and boot into OS X. Then open System Preferences, Startup Disk and select OS X as your default startup. You probably did not have the rEFIt options set correctly in the "refit.conf" file. See this LINK. Last edited by chscag; 12-08-2010 at 10:22 PM. |

I had the problem of messing up partitions with gparted and refit wasn't working. I managed to rescue the windows boot by using gdisk. Download: GPT fdisk | Free Development software downloads at SourceForge.net Google "gdisk tutorial" for more info. And try to understand the concept of hybrid mbr so you know what you're doing. After gdisk fix, reboot with Windows install disc and do the repair procedure. |
