To my knowledge (happy to be corrected), there was no VBA (i.e. macro) support for Office 2008 for Mac.

I believe it's been re-instated for Office 2011.

External hard disk acquisition addict - but admitting the problem is the first step to a robust backup

The "fix" is as advised by mrplow. Buy Office 2011. VBA has been reinstated.
