new to macs and looking for help. I recently installed windows xp pro using bootcamp and am wondering if i buy an windows 7 upgrade disc will i be able to ugrade? i know it takes some extra steps during the upgrade process but is it possible?

Windows 7 will not upgrade over XP (any version). It will only upgrade from Vista. You can only install the Windows 7 upgrade clean. And as a general rule it's best to do it that way anyway.
