I can't open up video file as it says error 2048 in Quicktime. Is there anyway
to over come this. I have VLC and tried using that, but got nowhere.

Try opening it with VLC. Oops, I see you already tried that. Another one I've had luck with is MPlayer.

If you are having this issue under OS X you might want to try this Quicktime error 2048 (FIX). On the windows side this might be the problem QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component: Error -2048 when opening files containing MPEG-2 video

I tried the first suggestion error 2048 (FIX) but that didn't work. It would flash on for 6 seconds go off and then flash on again for another 6 seconds when I had VLC open.
