hi, just wondering if i can use my product key from a copy of vista i have on my laptop to run vista on my imac via bootcamp.

No for several reasons:

1. Vista on your laptop is an OEM copy licensed only for use on that machine and may not be transferred.

2. Branded OEM versions of Windows will not work with Boot Camp.

If you want to run Vista via Boot Camp on your iMac you will have to purchase a new full install copy - MS boxed version or OEM System Builders.
