I wanted to play games on my Mac, and so I used bootcamp to install Windows XP as a second OS on a separate partition, and used the Mac install disk to make Windows use compatable drivers for the Mac. I also connected it to our wireless network. It worked perfectly for about a month. Now, the Windows half still works just fine, but when I try to boot to mac, it gets stuck at the loading screen before you get to the login screen. (The apple symbol with the spinning black icon below). It NEVER reaches the login screen. I installed Windows XP SP3. What do you think is wrong?

Did you do the BC 2.1 update before installing Windows XP SP3?

It comes pre-installed to SP3 so no. I installed Windows which included SP3 then Bootcamp asked me to update it.

I don't have the answer at the tip of my tongue. I would suggest that you do a search for Windows XP SP3 in this Forum, because I know this issue has come up before. I'm wondering if you really need to do the BC 2.1 update after you install XP SP3.

Update: I have done some searching both online and offline, and I found the Mac Hardware Checker... I ran it twice and both times it found the same hardware error. Here is the code it gave me: 4HDD/11/40000004: SATA(0,0)

Also if it has any relevance, here is the version number of the Hardware Checker: 3A152

Any answers?
