I just installed Bootcamp and Windows XP SP3 on my MacBook Pro Leopard. After installing Windows, I inserted the Leopard disk and all the drives (I assume) were installed. However, I cannot connect to the internet - either through DSL or wireless (there seems to be a problem with the IP address but I don't know if that is the actual cause). Any ideas as to what the problem is or how to fix it?

Are you sure the NIC/wireless drivers installed properly? Use any of the techniques listed here to open device manager and see if your NIC/wireless card are recognized.

Thanks for the response! I just checked, and there is no wireless/NIC card at all anywhere. There is a network adapter that is installed, but there are also a network controller and ethernet controller that have not been installed. I re-run the installation disk but that did not resolve the problem as nothing new was installed. How can I make sure to install a particular drive?

It seems that the two "Atheros" installers are not running correctly - I tried to install them manually by opening the contents of the Leopard CD but nothing happened. Any ideas?

NIC = network interface card or simpler still, network adapter. So, if it is installed, you should be fine.

If you go to the Control Panel and check the network interfaces, are they enabled and set for DHCP (right click > properties - it should tell you here if it is set to get an IP automatically IIRC)? There is also a repair option when you go to install the drivers. Try that to repair any improperly installed drivers.

The disc comes with everything you need to get going so don't worry about drivers missing from the disc.

I checked and the network settings are on for getting the IP automatically. It says that the network is connected but when I click on details under status, there is no IP address. All fields are blank. When I right-click and try to repair the connection, the following error message appears: "Windows could not finish repairing the problem because the following action cannot be completed: Failed to query TCP/IP settings of the connection. Cannot proceed. For assistance contact the person that manages your network."

I tried to repair the installed drivers with the Leopard CD, but I received the following error message: "Service KeyAgent failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services."

I also tried to install a PC game but I received an error message that some of the necessary drivers were missing (the game is supposed to be able to run on Windows XP)

Any suggestions?
