Running Mac OS X Version 10.5.5 on a 2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Mac.
Unfortunately, need to load windows XP Pro so I can run Auto CAD.
Bootcamp created a FAT32 partition (32Gb) - no problem.
Running the Windows install disk and it only recognises the MAC formatted partition... no sign of the Bootcamp partition at all.

Anyone had a similar situation?

Can you 'see' the bootcamp partition under OS X? In disk utility ?

At what point are you just seeing the mac partition? i.e. are you able to boot from the windows CD and get into the windows installer? What version/type of Windows disk do you have?

I can see the Bootcamp partition in disc utility, yes.
Windows installer starts and gets to the "select partition to install windows to".
That's where I can only see the Mac partition.

I'm installing Windows XP pro.

When it displays the Mac partition... how big is it reporting?

Is it reporting the full size of the disk or is it reporting the size of the mac partition less the 32gb you've allocated on the boot camp assistant?

Just a thought but . . . your windows disc does include Service pack 2 or 3 presumably.

Original XP and XPSP1 discs didn't have great support for SATA drives which could result in the problems your getting.

Disc utility shows the Mac partitioned and Fat 32 partitioned volumes having the capacity they have been assigned.
I'm installing windows XP pro SP2.

I'm a little bewildered by this one myself but I'm certain the problem lies with the windows installer/disc.

If you still have access to a windows PC you may like to try creating a new disc using nLite. It lets you take the contents of your existing disc and slipstream it with a service pack.

You could download SP3. Slipstream it with the contents of your XP disc and burn a new, bootable disc. Worth a go.......

The guide for use is here but it's pretty straightforward. You don't want to do anything other than slip stream in a service pack. Everything else (unattended setup etc can be ignored).

Excellent, thank you.

Feel very much like:

"Traveling through hyperspace ain't like dusting crops, boy! Without precise calculations we could fly right through a star, or bounce too close to a supernova and that'd end your trip real quick, wouldn't it?"

OK, lets make the jump to hyperspace....
