...that after you install the Windows XP OS on it, it is great and fast; but then you start downloading all the Windows updates such as SP 2 and 3, then your machine acts like it is really constipated. You didn't do anything else, but simply downloaded all the updates.
I think that all these windows updates are designed primarily for internet security because I have another machine running Windows XP and when downloading newer version of programs such as Adobe Reader that calls for Windows SP 2, I download it and it works fine even though I haven't downloaded SP 2. Simply said, my machine that I haven't downloaded one Windows update after installing XP is super fast and it is a 1.8 Ghz (single core) machine with 2GB of RAM, so it isn't a powerhouse of any sorts.
