Because you're using a 32-bit edition of Windows XP, which can only address 3.3GB of RAM - and possibly less depending on how much video ram your graphics card has.
Leopard has full 64-bit support, so it can address all of your memory. Liquid and computers don't mix. It might seem simple, but we see an incredible amount of people post here about spills. Keep drinks and other liquids away from your expensive electronics! |
