I have two external firewire hard drives. Both mount fine in OSX but will not mount in XP with bootcamp on my iMac. I have searched this forum, the internet for drivers, and updated all drivers available in Boot Camp. XP recognizes the HD's, allows me to disconnect them in the task bar icon, but will not mount them. I does list them as networked devices in the device manager. I have checked everywhere, and can only think that Xp is not recognizing the firewire ports as original hardware, which they are.

The HD's are: Macally PHR-100AF with an IDE 160G Seagate HD; and a VST external 20G HD, both have only IEEE 1394A and an power adapter.

Any assistance is greatly appeciated. I am a former advanced W2K user, but rarely used XP since I switched to OSX 10.2 5.5 years ago. Thanks

iMac Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0Ghz 2GB OSX 10.5.1 / XP Pro
iBook G4 1.33Ghz 1.5GB OSX 10.4.11

You've probably done all you can under the circumstances. If you can not locate an updated IEEE 1394 driver for the built in Firewire port there's probably no way you're going to be able to mount them.

It might be worthwhile to buy an inexpensive USB 2.0 enclosure for the Seagate 160 Gb drive and attach it to XP that way. Or, it might be more convenient and cost effective to just purchase a new USB 2.0 external HDD. Prices have really come down on external HDDs.

Regards.
