I am connected to a Servers MaxOnline Premium CableTV/Internet setup. The advertised download speed is stated as UP TO 12Mbps, so if my maths is correct (major assumption) to download a 2hr movie from iTunes should take something less than 2minutes. However to download a 40min TV show normally takes me around 25mins +-, so I am obviously not getting the advertised download speed. So the first question is why not?.......Is it possibly because of my position in the "condo" site, ie badly situated at the end of the line so to speak or could it have something to do with my Apple WiFi router?

The other question I have is....my Apple TV box is connected to my B&O Tv (supposedly HD compatible) via an HDMI to DVI cable. I downloaded a movie in HD format to see how it looks and I get the message " content requires HDCP for playback and HDCP not supported by your HDMI connection....use component video connection to watch movie).

Any help would be MUCH appreciated...thanks a lot Rocket Guys!!!

I think your confusing MBps and mbps, MBps is Mega Bites per second and Mbps is Mega bits per second, a big difference, really big. To download a 2hr movie in 2 minutes would be amazing!!!

Go to http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest?flash=1 and run a speed test, I get around 1300 off a wireless network, and I think it took me about 1.5 hours to download Superbad off of itunes. What you are getting is about normal, but to go faster make sure your not doing anything else that takes up a lot of bandwith.

See above posters response to bandwidth.

As for the HDCP thing, see this. There is no way around that message with HDMI on your TV; you'll have to use component. What's a B&O TV and when did you buy it?

Yes..in my haste I forgot about the bytes and bits!!
B & O...why Bang & Olufsen of course...I bought it about 3-4 years ago and it is HD compatible and I have since found out that they will build a small box into the set to solve the HDCP problem. I've tried using a video component cable but can't get it working for some reason.
I see from the Apple support site that there are quite a few complaints from people having downloaded movies to rent that they are unable to view as their sets are HDMI but not HDCP compliant....

You're going to be seeing a lot more of those posts from early adopters of HD TV's. Most of the TV's during the first 2 years introduction of HD sets did not have HDCP.

Are you in the States? Didn't realize B&O was producing TV's.

I cannot be held responsible for the things that come out of my mouth.

Did you read the Wikipedia article? I thought it mentioned something about TVs made before 2005 are not HDCP compliant. I bet your TV falls into that category. From the sound of it, you're TV was purchased late 2004?
Maybe these complaints are coming from people who have older TVs that aren't HDCP compliant.

My TV is HD compatible but the HDMI connection is not HDCP compliant. B & O can fix that but in the mean time the component video connection should work..but is not!! It seems to work for others tho'.....it would be nice to live in an encrypted free world!!!

True that. I can't get my PS3 to work on my HDTV through HDMI nor can I DL HD movies from iTunes on a computer hooked up to my TV via HDMI. that Mac Pro costs 10x more than an AppleTV.
Sorry, I can't help any further.

is it a wide screen hd tv? or is it one of the earlier hd tvs that was a 4:3 ratio? apple tv requires a 16:9 ratio in order to function.

Not necessarily. Before I got my 1080i HDTV I had a JVC 27" CRT-style TV (circa 2000) and it had component input. AppleTV displayed 480i at 4:3 perfectly.
