I have a KVM switch (ps2 connections not usb).

I just bought a new wired mac keyboard and was hoping I could use my usb-to-ps2 adapter to plug it into the KVM switch. From there the switch would output in ps2 to my PC and the connection to the mac would utilize my ps2-to-usb connector. The problem is the mac keyboard will not work in this set up on both mac and PC.

My mouse works fine in this set up, but is it possible that the mac keyboard can not?

My worst case scenario would be to buy a usb-kvm switch.

I'm having this same problem. Toggling works on Windows keyboard, but not Mac!

Plug the keyboard directly into the computer.

Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer!
