More like against the rules.

Cracking the encryption on a commercial DVD is a violation of the DMCA. As such, it is against the rules of Mac-Forums to discuss things that are either illegal or a violation of an EULA.

This doesn't necessarily have to be about ripping commercially encrypted DVDs you know. Discuss away.
