Cd's don't burn right anymore - last 2 or 3 cuts tend to skip... could barely load Leopard from cd-ROM w/out it failing... now cannot burn a disk image to dvd - get error each time about laser power insufficient for the drive.

What should I do? Does Apple replace these drives? (iMac early 2006 20"). Wonder how much $ to replace or repair?
QUOTE Thanks

Have you tried ebay? Buying the drive from Apple, if they will just sell you one is not going to be cheap!

Buy a drive from a dealer on say ebay - Pioneer DVR-115 DL 20X superdive here in Australia are about $30.00, cheap as chips.

Do it yourself and go to the first link on this Googl;e page from Apple:-

It is an iMac so it is going to be a laptop type slim drive not a full sized drive!
