changing HDD

i have g3 ibook, 800mhz, 30gb hdd. i have another laptop (Windows XP OS) that has a 40gb hd. can i switch the hard drives? also, i don't have the mac osx tiger cd's so how would i go about getting the mac OS onto that new hdd if i was able to switch them?

As long as they have the same connection (serial ATA, for example), then yes.

Buy a copy of the OS from Apple or some other 3rd party.
