I recently got an external hard drive -- the Maxtor OneTouch III Mini.
After using it for a couple months, I realized that it would be much more useful if I could use it via my FireWire port rather than USB (two USB ports actually b/c it needs the extra power). Is there any cable that would connect the 5-pin USB mini port on the hard drive to the FireWire port on my MacBook? If so, would my external hard drive even work? Thanks |

If your external does not have Firewire, then I don't think so. They are two entirely different technologies. And even if there were a converter, it would surely suffer in terms of performance.
Better get yourself a firewire external casing from somewhere cause Firewire is so much faster than USB... |
