Greetings,

None of my external hardrives, 5 total, as of today cannot be accessed by my MBP. This occured once I installed and then removed Paragon NTFS read/write software. I checked them on my PC which runs WindowsXP and they're fine.

I ran a disk utility and I'm seeing some bad news:

S.M.A.R.T. status: Not Supported
Mount Point: Not Mounted
Number of Files: Blank

I believe that when I installed this paragon software, it altered my USB drive settings, NO?

Please, anyones help with this issue...I would appreciate it!

best, aufhebung

Are they formatted with NTFS?? If yes, you wont be able write to the partition but you certainly can read NTFS partition. Did you try mounting manually from disk utility?

They are formatted to NTFS. And that's true..I've only been able to read the files and nothing else. The writing was being performed on my PC. I was hoping to change that with Paragon NTFS writable software...but I got so flustered...I uninstalled it. What exactly is a "manual mount?"

If you're able to read the files from the partition then the partition is mounted. Sometimes if the disk is not mounted automatically, you can open disk utility where in the left side pane you'll see all the available devices that you can mount. Just select the device and click mount.

To be able to write to NTFS you'll need paragon ntfs. I tried ntfs3g but it failed to mount my ntfs partition so now i use paragon. it's very convenient.

Clicking on the mount button did not produce an effect. I'm not able to view any files...The Icon and the Name Seagate FreeAgent Drive appear to the left, however..

I'm very confused as to what happened..when I first purchased my Mac and plugged in the hard drive...the icon popped right up.

Now..its like it never did. Reformatting this 500 GB Seagate hard drive is well, out of the question if its not necessary.
Would creating a partition be helpful? thank you in advance.

aufhebung.
